The biggest competition win this was Crohane Ronnie won the Tipperary Cup at Thurles followed by the Southern Oaks at Youghal which was dominated throughout by Droopys Harbour. However the semi finals of other events have also led to obvious nominations for performance of the week, notably Vardy in the Red Mills Unraced at Cork and Forest Natalee in the Irish Sprint Cup at Dundalk.
But Kevin Hutton’s sprinter isn’t the only ‘Forest’ nominated, Forest Bee became one of the first winners for Derby winner Rio Quattro on debut at Enniscorthy.
Both of the Shelbourne nominations are from the Holland kennel. With the Irish Derby imminent, the return to form of last year’s beaten favourite Sonic sounds ominous, though even he was put in the shade by Lughill Robbie whose 18.46 sprint has only been bettered twice in the last decade.
