At Tralee, 4-6f Ryehope Beach was eliminated in the semi finals of the Juvenile Classic. Ballymac Marino landed the fastest of the semis in 28.29.
Elsewhere, Enniscorthy finally got its 2023 schedule underway with a double for litter sisters Mikeys Lady and Mikeys Princess. The former was the quicker by three spots.
The milder weather has meant quicker tracks and times. Owen McKenna’s beaten Irish Derby favourite Calloway Pro Am clocked the fastest 550 at Shelbourne so far this year, while Graham Holland’s Swords Rex went quickest over the standard trip.
At Cork his kennelmate Galloping Sydney popped up with a 28.12 FOY run – after missing his break! There was a similar story at Dundalk where Santro Mint also clocked the quickest 525 to date. Ditto Coolbeg Whatical at Youghal with a 28.70 run.
Last but not least, the Dolores Ruth trained puppy Boylesports Dazl with the quickest 525 at Limerick so far this year. He qualified in 28.43!!! But then his mum is a 28.20 bitch at Shelbourne and litter sister to Pestana! In her previous litter she threw Ballymac Finn.
At Derry, Lady Jo Ann took 22 spots off her own 745 yard track record though the track is running particularly well with FOY times over both the sprint and 500 yard course on the same night.
