The Gold Cup continues to dominate Irish racing in early February and Galloping Sydney was the star of the second round with a 28.26 run. Interestingly, the first four home were all Droopys Sydney progeny. In fact, Sydney progeny won three of the four qualifiers and were second in the other.
The slightly better weather has seen times start to improve. At Clonmel, we saw the fastest 525 run of the new year by Crafty Jayko. Puppy Are Malikian did something similar at Dundalk while the similarly aged Balrobuck Dream produced Galway’s quickest 525 of 2023.
Look out too for a fabulous sprint run from June pup Greatdistraction at Thurles. While at Cork, it was 19 month old Newinn Port who clocked the fastest standard run of the week.
