The big event of the week was the final of the Eric Browne Memorial Kingdom Derby at Tralee and it duly went to a Kerry bred in Ballymac Whispa.
In fact there were four ‘Dowling breds’ in the final and three of them made the tricast with ‘Whispa’ beating ‘Finn’ by a short head in a very useful 28.18.
Look out too for Pat Guilfoyle’s useful pup Scaglietti who went even quicker than course specialist Magical Mary in a 575 open sweep at Cork.
It’s been a busy week at Clonmel leading up to the National Coursing Festival with four meetings this week and the semi finals of the Rural Kennels Unraced Consolation taking place last night. Quickest on the clock was Salmic Fitz. The main event continues this evening.
