A sensational 29.13 run from Collavanny Hoffa is currently setting the standard in the Boylesports Irish Derby. By of comparison, there were only three quicker runs last year, Ballymac Ariel (29.07 twice) and Jackslittlething (29.10).
That’s six in a row for Michael O’Donovan’s runner inclluding a 28.02 over the 525 yard course.
At Newbridge, Hawkfield Diva clocked the fastest sprint of 2022 with a 17.36 run. There was also FOY runs for January pup Whyaye Man and November pup Oakfield Magic , though the 600 & 750 yard distances are used infrequently.
A mention too for Imperial Glory. Although Waterford is running fast at the moment, only Explosive Boy has gone quicker this year over the standard.
