IRISH PERFORMANCES OF THE WEEK

Shelbourne’s biggest 600 yard event of the year ‘the 600’ produced an incredible final. The dominant striped jacketed Beach Avenue looked an even better bet when the five was withdrawn but looked without a prayer as Pierno dominated early. The ultra consistent Ballymac Wild was well placed with the favourite well off the pace. But a brilliant finish saw all three cross the line in an extended blur and the camera gave the result to Wild. Some race!

Brodys Magic once again proved himself the fastest Shelbourne sprinter since Ardnasool Jet is a supporting final. His 18.41 was a career best. He now has the fastest three wins over the 350 yard trip this year and the two fastest times in 2020 (18.52).

The Kirby Memorial is one race away from being decided and Explosive Boy equaled his first round winning time with another 28.08 run in the fastest semi final.

We are also going into the final of the Supersprint at Cork where the fancied Skylight Blake exited on Saturday. Quickest on the clock was the winner of that qualifier, Seomra Nate. (That particular semi featured four offspring of Laughil Blake! There were two In the other semi) Look out too from that meeting for Knockboy Flight was a stunning 30.89 for the 575.

At Waterford, English Derby winner Deerjet Sydney went quickest in the semi finals of the Select Stakes. At Newbridge, Castlehill Best produced the fastest sprint of the year to date.

Galway saw their FOY clockings over 525 and 550 for Drombeg Dream and Tigerintempo respectively. While at Tralee, Balymac Rule remains unbeaten in four going into the final of the Coursing Bred sprint. His 75lb sister Ballymac Floral won the other semi.
