It would get too complicated to award the Performance of the Week to a beaten dog, though you could make a legitimate case for Ballymac Cashout following his narrow defeat in Shelbourne Park’s Gold Cup. The Dowling puppy probably left eight lengths on the track. But credit to the gutsy Inforapenny who battled hard for his win. His winning time was a moderate 28.97, though he has 28.28 winning for two races previously. On a slow track, Ballymac Art produced the most notable clocking on the night.
There was once again some cracking racing in the Rural Hawaii Unraced at Clonmel – there will be a string of quality open racers emerge from this stake – with local trainer Graham Holland up to his ears in young talent. Quickest, and one of the youngest, was Jackslittlething (formerly Bandicoot Julius) with a 28.51 run. From the same dam line as Toms Delight, Shellam Delarno etc, he is bred to be a bit special.
