There has been plenty to occupy the minds or Irish racegoers beyond the exploits of the English Derby challengers.
The biggest final was the Fair Warrior Sprint at Mullingar which went the way of Olympic Dollar. The winning time of 21.42 might not appear anything special, though the fastest 525 run on the night was 29.58.
At Limerick, Ballymac Kingdom went quickest in the first round of the Irish St.Leger while kennelmate, Ballymac Beanie produced the quickest run in the Oaks at Shelbourne Park. The male Catchmeflying became only the third sub 28.00 winner of the year on the same track.
At Clonmel, Golden Tiger went quickest in the second round of the Munster Juvenile.
