All eyes were on the Irish St.Leger where Swords Rex followed up on his near record 29.27 first round win with a 29.35 next time out. Next quickest was kennelmate Clonbrien Treaty (29.38).
Tonight, Clonmel stage the semi finals of the Munster Juvenile with eight of the twelve runners being sired by Droopys Sydney. Quickest of the dozen last weekend was Annual Coco, though Shane O’Gorman’s 74lb bitch has a slight advantage in being one of the older runners in the event.
There was a fastest 525 yard run of the year at Dundalk this week, as set by Graham Kelly’s Beretta Melba while Droopys Mandolin did something similar in the opening round of the Galway Oaks.
Look out too for Michael Corr’s useful Deerjet Sydney pup La Barbaro who was the outstanding performer at both Derry and Drumbo.
