In all honesty, not the most exciting IPOW we have produced this year. Lots of tracks down to a single meeting, and the majority of the stars are coated up and on their beds.
Better at Shelbourne Park, Lets Go Bubbles and Quivers Magic landed the two quickest Christmas Oaks quarter finals. Not only did Droopys Sydney sire all four winners, he also provided the quartet of forecasts.
The 1,045 Shelbourne Marathon Final went to Highjay Muzzy. Remember him? He was the 40-1 chance that landed the €10K 850 yard race at the Winter Festival meeting. This time he was a comparatively skinny 3-1 chance.
Look out too for a new fastest 550 of the year at Galway for Rachel Wheeler’s Annagh Bailey. And last but not least, not only is he the second fastest hound over Tralee’s 525 yards this year, he is probably Ireland’s most fabulously named hound. . . . Superfast Gordon.
