More track records were broken in Ireland over the last seven days. That’s It Jack took 16 spots off the 575y Limerick clock, an effort that gave him performance of the week over Tuono Charlie and that is no mean feat! The latter was imperious once more in making it 15 wins in a row. He was only just outside his own track record in the Irish Cambridgeshire semi-finals. The final this coming weekend could see him regain his IPOTW in seven days time.

Daleroad Devon at Tralee was the other new track record set this week. The 500y trip is not one that is used all that often but Patrick Guilfoyle’s dog took 14 spots off the old clock. It was the opening round of a trip-distance competition where no other winners got within 50 spots of him.

The start of the Laurels at Curraheen Park was always going to produce some outstanding runs. Chief amongst them was Tribal Syd who missed out by just two spots on ducking under 28 seconds. He went a single spot quicker than the 2023 Irish Derby champion The Other Kobe.

Julies Gem has gone back to back in Performance of the Week. She is the 1/1 favourite for the final of the KGOBA Derby on Saturday night. A win there could see her with a hat-trick of appearances in this column.

There are a pair who have taken over the mantle at their track from a litter sibling. Mayflower Storm at Enniscorthy usurped Mayflower Sienna while at Mulligar Stefans Topcat made it a treble for his litter after Kilbride Topcat won the last two weeks.
