In a week when the racing world lost Droopys Sydney, his offspring produced five of the Irish performances of the week!

Arguably the best of those was Broadstrand Syd. He closed out his Bar One Sprint campaign with a final win in a smart 20.67. It was his third sub-20.70 run of the competition which is more incredible when you consider that before the start of the competition, the track record was 20.73!

The other big final of the week was the Irish St Leger. Clonbrien Treaty was the first back-to-back winner of the competition for more than 50 years. Most weeks he would have won the performance outright. He happened to do it on the same week that Ower Cracker broke the 600-yard track record. That meant that the pair shared the Limerick award as we struggled to split them.

Shelbourne produced flying time after flying time on Saturday night. Marginally the quickest was Cheque For Cash. He was knocked out of the Time Juvenile Derby in the opening round last week but went five spots quicker than his conqueror that night, Callaway Knegare.

Unanimous Roxy produced the second quickest time of 2024 at Enniscorthy with her 28.58. It was only 20 spots off the track record, a more impressive run given it was only the third of her career. She was unlucky at Limerick later in the week and is only a December 22 whelp, the youngest on the list this week.
