A pair of back-to-back winners this week. Romeo Control landed the prize at Curraheen Park while the staying exploits of Tuono Charlie won him the honour at Tralee again.
The former is still a puppy with only seven races on his card. He didn’t make his debut until the middle of June and has quickly made up into a very smart recruit.
12 wins in a row now for Tuono Charlie who is carrying all before him in staying races in Ireland, though there are no plans for him to travel as things stand which rules out any hope of seeing him at Perry Barr for the English St Leger with connections saying they have no plans to head to England with him.
Two big competitions continue to generate phenomenal racing in the Bar One Sprint and the Willwego.com Irish St Leger. Once more, it was hard to look beyond these races for the top effort at the track. 2023 Bar One Sprint winner Carrick Aldo is coming to the boil at the right time while Knockeen Dazzler set the standard in Limerick’s quarter-finals.
The youngest on the list this week is Drive On Bono who won the Youghal performance of the week. A half-brother to KAB Maiden Derby winner Drive On Lad, he has only had eight starts. He’s taken a real liking for the track, winning three of four so far at the Co. Cork venue.
