HT1 Deadly Missile (4-6) was hugely impressive in the first round. He didn’t ping but showed top class early to power past Boylesports Xtra. Even with the fast breaking railer Battle Cry on his outside, there is nothing with his early pace and a particularly tardy breaker on his immediate inside.
HT2 The inside three and the stripes are all blessed with excellent early pace. Lemon Boris and Frankies Pet were both caught up in the messiest heat of the first round when almost brought to a stop at the thrid bend. They have the impressive Jacks Solution (5-4) drawn between them though he is unlikely to get such a clear run this time. This isn’t Newinn Lester’s (7-4) track or distance but he looks guaranteed a clear run on the outside. Redzer Ardfert looks certain to qualify.
HT 3 Another short priced favourite in Toolmaker Sydney (8-13) and he holds an advantage on the clock after gamely running down Newinn Taylor in the heats. Great Eastern (10-1) moved out from red in his heats, Doolin Prince (7-2) moved in from five. With an empty box in five, Clona Blaze (4-1) should get a clear run, but the favourite will be hunting him down from the third bend.
Ht 4 Glengar Bale (2-5) was hugely impressive in the opening round. After stepping to his right on leaving the boxes he accelerated into an unbeatable lead. It seems hard to oppose him, but 2-5? Cushie Wayne (12-1) is a nice youngster who could cause a surprise if the favourite flops.
Ht 5 One of the most competitive heats of the night with the top three in the market all running cracking races last time out. Our Surprise (5-2) and Knocknaboul Syd (2-1) just missed out in epic buckles. Laughil Josh (9-4) was largely third best in the fastest race of the round, but should get a better run on the rails this time.
Ht 6 Even at 4-9 it is hard to oppose Newinn Sheedy. There is nothing with his early pace on the inside and he clocked the fifth fastest sectional of the last round. Looking for a forecast, the impressive Beechview Cognac remained competitive until the latter stages in a fast heat.
Ht 7 There will be three very good greyhounds go out of the Derby in this heat which looks to be the race of the night. You could make a claim for every hound here, but visually, none impressed more than Catunda Logan (5-1) last time out. His pace to the third bend was exceptional. Same draw and hard to oppose. The sponsors though find it impossible to split Catchmeflying and Coolavanny Chick (7-4).
Ht 8 There probably wasn’t enough space on the racecard to describe all the trouble that Newline Cody encountered in his heat. 13-8 is skinny enough for the fifth slowest on the clock, but with a clear run should find a lump of time.
