The record of Irish trainers in the Scottish Derby was extended yet further with Braveheart Bobby landing the RPGTV Scottish Derby.
Pat Buckley’s Kingdom Derby winner took full advantage of an optimal draw when securing domination of the inside track at the first bend. The dog, who had shown fine middle pace in his semi final behind Droopys Nadal never looked like being caught and came home two lengths clear of Cooneen Jack in his best time to date, 28.88 (+40).
Jack Buckley said: “That’s why you keen coming back. Its such an unbelievable event to be a part of, nothing can beat that feeling. He is probably the most genuine dog we ever put a strap on. He just gives and gives and gives.”
Trainer Pat said: “I knew when he popped out he would take a lot of beating and he did the clock as well. He is a real good honest dog. He only had his tonsils out five weeks ago and it was a struggle to get him fit.”
