Nottinghamxmas 2016Droopys Acrobat, bred in Ireland but registered in the Greyhound Stud Book looks certain to start favourite for next Tuesday’s British Breeders Stakes Final.

The Richard Rees trained Irish Cesarewitch winner went to traps at 1-3f for the second semi final. Drawn white, he took over from Lowgate Malfoy on the run to the first bend and pulled away to win by a length and a half in 29.65. Thinkingofdarcy (T4) was a head back in third

The majority of the big hitters were in the opening semi. The top two in the market were Eden The Kid (8-11f T5) with Blissful Scolari (T1 7-2) but both were toast after a first bend collision that also cost Bang On Giles (T2 10-1) a place in the final. The race would eventually go to The Kid’s kennelmate Queen Asia (T3 4-1) who held off Calco Flyer (T4 10-1) by a length and a half in 29.74.

The third qualifier saw Old Joe Golden as market leader (T2 5-4) but went the way of the early paced duo Badebing (T1 5-2) and Carlos Court (T5 2-1). the winner’s time was 29.91 and the distance, a length.
