Ballydoyle Honey became the first bitch to break the 28 second barrier at Shelbourne Park when landing her second round heat of the Healthcare & Transport Services Puppy Oaks over 525 yards on Wednesday.
Graham Holland’s bitch blasted out of the traps and was soon well clear, eventually beating her litter mates Urban Gossip and Badminton Maid easily in 27.86sec (+25).
Jimmy Buckley’s Jumeirah Dancer got the better of a battle with Skywalker Pearl in the opening qualifier by a length in 28.33sec.
His brother Pat’s Coolavanny Slip came through strongly at the penultimate turn in heat two to beat Two Gold Medals by two lengths in 28.48sec.
Marie Gilbert’s Rathbride Rocket was soon clear in the third heat and went on to beat Ballymac Shirley by four and a half lengths in 28.53sec.
