Nottingham Puppy Classic winner Ice On Fire is to be aimed at Newcastle’s All England Cup after returning from a setback, which kept him away from the Romford Puppy Cup.
Jimmy Fenwick’s runner suffered a gash in a shoulder at home and had to have staples inserted into the wound.
Now sponsorship has been confirmed for the historic Newcastle competition Fenwick was keen to go for his top local race.
He told the Star: “It was only a small setback but we couldn’t chance him at Romford. I gave him a trial at Newcastle last week and he lost his footing and came out on his nose and only did 28.82sec.
“However he went much better this week when clocking 28.30sec and will probably have another spin next week in preparation for the heats which take place on Thursday week.”
