Ian Smyth, Entain’s Stadium Director, has announced that he is to leave his role at the end of October.
During his four and a half years in his role, he oversaw the multi million pound upgrade at Romford and has overseen significant investment in the four company owned greyhound tracks.
His greatest legacy will possibly be his rejuvenation of the open race Calendar including the introduction of the £20K PGR competitions, plus the ‘doubling up’ of Cat One events at his stadia.
The story has been been circulating for a couple of days though he was keen to keep his cards close to his chest in relation to his future.
He said: “For a while I was just looking forward to some down time watching the World Cup, though I’m not sure how much fun that is going to be now. I don’t intend to go public on my plans, beyond saying that I have two or three options open to me outside greyhound racing. Various people have been speculating on what I will be doing, but there is honestly nothing more to it than that at this stage.”
