Kevin Hutton landed an impressive double at Swindon on Wednesday and then gave all the credit to the dogs’ owners.
First up was Huarache Scotty who landed the 480m open by eight lengths in 28.69. It was his first outing since pulling up lame in the Brinkley Unraced at Hove in April.
Half an hour later, Jet Stream Sound renewed a local rivalry with Swift Europe over the 509m course and took a 3-2 lead following a 30.50 (-20) victory.
It was Sound’s first outing since pulling up lame at Hove in July and it took his career record to 18 wins from 41 races.
Hutton said: “Stream had a shoulder tear and an old dodgy wrist. Thankfully he came off sound and the long term plan is for the Essex Vase though his owner is a big fan of Henlow, where he holds the track record, and we hoping to run in a two-run event there in a couple of weeks time.
“Scotty picked up a horrendous shoulder injury and it has been a long route to get him back on the track.
“The key to all of this is the owners (Mick Freshwater and Paul Oliver). They understand that these things take time and they never put the slightest pressure on us to rush the dogs back. They are the ones who deserve all the credit.”
