The final sale of 2023 GBGB calendar year took place at Hove yesterday and attracted a good crowd in the bright sunshine for the second sale from the team at Premier Greyhound Sales.
Top lot on the day was Lucky Sevens, an April 22 son of Broadstrand Bono by Hop The Ball from the Newry based Townview Kennels.
Purchased by Marios Gregori for £6200, Lucky Sevens will join the kennels of Hove handler David Dark and looks to have a bright future in puppy open races. Quickest on the day was De Pan Handler in a smart 29.61, however the greyhound did not meet his reserve of £6000 and went unsold.
In total 43 lots went to the bench and 40 were sold for a combined figure of £67,000 resulting in an average of £1675 per lot.
Nathan Corden says “It was lovely to see a big crowd in Hove for the sale and it is always a great place to visit with their friendly group of staff, vet, trainers and owners. The sale was a success and hopefully Hove thought the same as just under 58% of the greyhounds sold yesterday will remain at the track and help their graded strength.
“That was our final sale of the year and we are currently working on our schedule for next year but we hope to include Crayford, Hove, Monmore and Romford into our 2024 calendar. People can keep an eye on our X (formerly Twitter) feed of @PremGreySales over the next few weeks for details of 2024 sales dates.”
