Local trainer Russ Warren completed his preparations for the major races at Sheffield this month in good heart on Tuesday night when he landed two of the Trial Stakes for the Stones Bitter Queen Mother Memorial, which starts next week writes John Forbes
Swift Curie continued to shine as she completed a hat-trick of open wins in two weeks with an all the way victory in 39.02 for the 660 metres, while kennelmate Coolboy Blitz led from the third bend in his contest and stayed on to score by a length and threequarters in 39.18.
Warren says: “They both ran well and I am pleased with their preparations, so we will be going into the Queen Mother Memorial with a bit of confidence. I have had finalists in the competition before but have not won it so I am hoping this will be my year. Both greyhounds will also be aimed at the Pinpoint Health and Homecare Three Steps To Victory at the end of the month as well.”
It was also a good night for trainer Charlie Lister as he took the other Trial Stakes with Mottos Mixer (39.38) and landed both Trial Stakes for the up-coming Puppy Sprint with Albert Golden and Old Joe Golden.
Bred by Liz Hall in Yorkshire from a mating between her Final Gold and Premier Fantasy, they caught the eye as Albert Golden went slightly the quicker with a 16.24 for the 280 metres to Old Joe Golden’s 16.26.
