Swift Hoffman landed his third major competition of the year in the final of the Ladbroke Gold Cup over 480 metres at Monmore.
Pat Rosney’s runner led to the turn but was passed by El Lema. Kevin Hutton’s runner stayed in front until the third turn when Swift Hoffman powered past and went on to score by almost four lengths in 27.70sec.
Owner Paul Scott said: “He’s done everything right again and it’s great to win a race at Monmore, which is a track I’ve been going to for many years.
“The dog is likely to step up to six bends now; it is just a matter of when.”
Swift Hoffman must now be favourite for the Greyhound of the Year title.
Millwards Teddy (evens) was an impressive winner of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup 630 Final.
Farneys Cookie was the early leader but Millwards Teddy managed to turn in second place. He hit the front off the penultimate turn and went on to beat the staying on Glenpadden Ace by almost four lengths in 37.57sec.
Owner Mitch Millward said: “He’s the best dog I’ve ever owned. We know he has his quirks but when he in form he very special.
“Millwards Teddy will now go for the Doncaster St Leger, which he won last year.”
Klockwork Khaos was a surprise 14-1 winner of the opening Ladbrokes Sprint over 264 metres.
Paul Sallis’s runner trapped out to the front and avoided trouble at the opening turn to come home four lengths in front of Cloncunny Ardera in 15.49sec.
Sallis said afterwards: “He leads four bend dogs for fun and was a huge price. “
Express Master (7-1) was another big priced local winner of the Download the Ladbrokes App 480.
Pat Cowdrill’s runner flew out of the boxes and made every metre to beat the favourite Ibiza Rocks by two lengths in 27.94sec
Cowdrill said afterwards: “He needed to ping out from a bad draw and made no mistake. He’s been a great old dog for his owners.”
TV Trophy finalist Droopys Tamera was another shock 7-1 winner of the Download the Ladbrokes App 684.
Perry Barr record holder Newinn This Way set a strong pace but Droopys Tamera came through strongly at the fifth turn to score by two and a half lengths in 40.99sec.
A kennel spokesman said: “She broke well and when she was so close at halfway we knew she would win.”
Bubbly Time (7-4) was an easy winner of the Ladbrokes Marathon over 835 metres setting a new track record in the process.
Local runner Moss Lane Sue took the field along until the penultimate turn where Bubbly Time swept past to eventually score by six lengths in 51.25sec.
Steve Fluin of the Bubbly Club said: “She only just got around the bend but once in a pitch was always going to win.”
Roxholme Barkley (evens) was the first favourite of the night to win in the Des Loughery Trafalgar Cup final over 480 metres.
Hayley Keightley’s runner as soon clear and went on to beat Droopys Yves by two and a half lengths in 28.23sec.
“He came over from Ernie Cooke with little done and is progressing well. He’s still a lot to learn but will go to all the major puppy competitions until he turns two in November.”
Dawsons Waft (5-1) was a trap to line winner of the Ladbrokes Festival 416.
Maxine Locke’s runner flew out and made all to slam Cape Impact by four lengths in 24.21sec.
