GBGB director John Haynes may step down from his position later in the year following the decision to allow a trainer’s representative onto the board writes Floyd Amphlett.
Haynes currently occupies the ‘practitioner’ role on behalf of both owners and trainers.
He said: “I have fought long and hard to get this decision, and now it has been agreed, I can consider my long term options.
“Ever since the GBGB was first devised, myself and my former colleague and friend Stuart Locke-Hart had argued that it was unbalanced.
“Stuart and I represented owners and trainers on the old BGRB and I badly missed an ally in presenting the concerns and aims of the industry’s grass roots.
“Thankfully, my fellow directors have listened to my plea and justice has been done.
“In due course, I will stand down and seek my replacement on the FBGOA. In the meantime, I look forward to working with the trainer’s representative.”
