Target Harris clocked the fastest time of the year when landing the Coral Easter Sprint Final over 285 metres at Hove on Thursday.
Hayley Keightley’s runner blasted out of the boxes and was soon well clear, eventually beating Sizzlers Eagle by four lengths in 16.07 – two lengths outside the track record he jointly holds with Jimmy Lollie.
Droopys Norris went quickest in the Coral Standard heats over 515 metres.
Dean Child’s Derby Plate winner pulled clear from the opening turn to hold Leathems Desire by a neck in 29.99sec.
Liz McNair’s Diego Flight made the opening turn in front in the second heat and went on to hold an unlucky Droopys Jarrow by three quarters of a length in 30.05sec.
Puppy Derby runner-up Millwards Whitey impressed in a supporting sprint when pulling clear at the opening turn to beat Young Tyrur by almost five lengths in 16.35sec.
In trials before racing, Alec Stone’s Alma Prince, a winner of four opens at Nottingham beat kennelmate Alma Valentine over 695 metres by almost eight lengths in 42.12sec (-45).
Dean Childs’ Doncaster St Leger winner Millwards Teddy beat kennelmate Sidarian Teejay by just over three lengths in 30.10sec for 515 metres.
