GBGB Managing Director Mark Bird has confirmed that Peter Harnden’s kennel has been put into 48 hour quarantine following a possible second case of (CHP) canine pneumonia.
Bird said: “It is really a precaution with a bitch who ran on Monday night appearing a bit lethargic today. Peter is of the opinion that she is returning to racing after a break and is almost certainly just tired. But given the nature of CHP and the death of Salacres Punch it was agreed to take no chances.
“But as explained in the advice issued earlier by the vet, if it is CHP, it does not cause a problem by spreading (due to natural immunity) so there should be no threat to any other greyhounds who raced at Nottingham on Monday.”
