If Harlow were to produce a league table of their top 100 runners, it would contain two certainties.

1) The list wouldn’t fill

2) Mikeys Champ (Droopys Maldini-Trade Pepsi, Jul 11) would be at no.1

The Sean Walsh trained black has won his last eight races at the track including one 15 length victory.

Racing manager Mark Schellenberg said: “He is unbeatable and we can only give him a race every couple of weeks.

“Overall, we are struggling for runners. We were okay over Christmas but we are now down to 97 dogs. The dog shortage makes it difficult to produce competitive cards, but we have been lower. In November we only had 85.

“January is quiet anyway so we will continue with eight or nine races on Fridays and ten or eleven on Saturdays.”
