Judgement Night (Puppy) winner Slick Saratoga made a big impression at Kinsley on Wednesday with a flying 27.55 trial for 462 metres. Patrick Janseens’ full brother to Deerjet Sydney is expected to be a major player in the forthcoming Bresbet Gymcrack.
Only only greyhound has gone quicker in the last 18 months (Quo Vadis 27.48) and Racing Manager Craig Hunt was hugely impressed with the 35kg black.
He said: “That is some run, first look at Kinsley and he did it off a 5.19 sectional. You break 5.20 and you have a good hound. The very best sectionals we see are around 5.14/15.”
Carl Jackson’s BGBF Puppy winner Watchall Sid (27.98, 27.82 calc – off 5.28/5.30 5.30 sectionals) also has the event in his stage but the list of visiting trainers is extensive: Tom Heilbron, George Stark, Ian Langford, Diane Henry, Laurence Tuffin, Jean Liles, Jill Sutherst. . .
Craig said: “I would be very hopeful that it will fill, and we have quite a few 27.80/27.90 locals who would make up the numbers if necessary. I’m not sure that we have many 27.50 dogs though to be honest.”
The Bresbet Gymcrack closes a week today and commences on Sunday April 23. With a final date of May 7, it is restricted to June 2021 pups and younger.
It is supported by the £1,000 BGBF British Bred Kinsley Cup over 462m which commences on Sunday April 30 with the decider run on finals night along with a string of minor opens over all distances, each carrying a £600 first prize.
