The Ladbrokes.com Christmas Guys & Dolls Final worth £500 to the winner at 1154am is the main event at Crayford this morning. Tony Collett’s Lizs Legacy is likely to be sent off favourite having completed a course and distance hattrick when taking his heat last week but he does have plenty of early pace to clear by the bend in the shape of Darren Whitton’s Casa Amor who is equally at home over this 540m course and distance and was only narrowly touched off by Julie Luckhurst’s SO SOLEMN in her heat. The value for today’s final could well lay with Luckhurst’s charge who could be in a really prominent position by the home straight first time around if she holds off Cals Flair to the turn.
Earlier on the card a competitive looking Ladbrokes.com Christmas Stakes again over 540m at 1109am can go to Kerry Daly’s SWIFT BAWDY who is looking to complete a course and distance hattrick. This is a step up in class and he will have to tread carefully in the early stages as a clear run isn’t guaranteed. Small bet material in a tricky race.
The sole other open on the card is the Ladbrokes.com Christmas Maiden Stayers staged over 714m at 1239pm. In the main a race full of well exposed graders with the exception being Darren Whitton’s ROANNA DAISY who ran a very eye-catching race after early trouble in a 592m maiden at Harlow last time out. She will not get many better opportunities to lose her maiden tag than she receives today.
