The next Greyhound Trader Online Auction is set to commence at 6pm tonight and 20 greyhounds will go under the spotlight for the usual 48 hour period.
Greyhound Trader’s James Corden said “We have adopted a new approach to the auctions by limiting each auction to 20 greyhounds from now on. One year ago it was hard for us to get more than 5 entries but for this auction we received 47 entries which had to be whittled down to the 20 as previewed below and that was a hard task in itself! This approach will hopefully better the user experience with quality aimed for over quantity, but also ensuring that there is a good mix of higher and lower priced greyhounds available to bid on.”
(In alphabetical order with links to IGB webpage when greyhound’s name is clicked on directly)
(1) Are Malikian (ex – Loher Kerry) – March 2021 who looks the sort to embark on an open racing career in the UK. This son of Laughil Blake clocked a hugely impressive 2849 at Dundalk just last month and a recent 2869 trial at SPK suggests this was no fluke. Anywhere from 480-500m looks in this lads ballpark and if emulating anywhere close to the ability of his brother Loher Ron, this could be a shrewd purchase for someone.
(2) Ballymac Diana – An extremely young December 2021 bitch who carries a big reputation from a kennel renowned for turning out top-class greyhounds. Diana managed to record 2978 in the only trial on her card to date around Tralee but we won’t see anywhere near her best for a long time to come yet. On breeding, she screams of a future stayer and connections seem to think she will be very good.
(3) Ballymac Teagan – Beautifully bred December 2021 bitch who recorded 3014 in the only trial on her card to date around Tralee. Dam Ballymac Saga is a full-sister to Ballymac Wisdom and Ballymac Kingdom. Combining this with the raw speed of sire Grangeview Ten, the likes of Teagan should have pace and power all over the track. One to keep an eye on.
(4) Bazz Manto – May 2021 who is currently competing in the same Michael Fortune Memorial ON1 Stake at Enniscorthy which threw English Derby winner Thorn Falcon two years ago. Despite being beaten by the fastest winner on the night, his latest run calculated a time of 2873 which on other days would be unheard at the tough running venue. Superbly bred with the great Premier Fantasy as his sire, this is yet another Open class prospect.
(5) Burgess Crusader – July 2021 puppy who showed electric early pace when winning last Monday night at Youghal in an impressive 2922. On what was a rain sodden track, this was an eye catching debut display with all sorts of improvement expected to be found on that time. Crusader comes from an impressive family with AA0 performers Burgess Dalo and Lenson Johnnyboy accounted for as half-brothers. Potentially one suited to speed tracks like Oxford or Monmore.
(6) Congress Dick – September 2021 son of Pestana who has a respectable 2975 trial at Youghal to his name. His only race can firmly be ignored having been badly baulked at the first bend. One who looks to have a fine boot of early and could be a valuable asset for someone at the likes of Crayford, Romford or similar tracks.
(7) Coolavanny Derek – A stunningly bred November 2021 dog who was put in at the deep end straight away competing in what looks a competitive ON1 sprint stake at Tralee with many runners clocking SS0 standard times. Derek has not been disgraced however clocking 1777 and 1778 at his young age being hugely impressive. Just 69lb in frame, this is a dog who may find himself on the race cards on the Friday nights at Romford or Oxford.
(8) Droopys Mckenzie – Unraced November 2021 who was previously sold at the Greyhound Trader Henlow ‘Bonus’ Sales last month. Connections have decided to take a different route into owning now and so are re-offering this young bitch who has done absolutely nothing with her since. Bred, reared and schooled at the esteemed Droopys establishment, there will be plenty of improvement in time with this bitch who could quickly work herself through the grades.
(9) Ferryforth Dee – Unraced September 2021 daughter of Dorotas Wildcat who looks a genuine wide runner. Stayed on late for 2nd place on her only race to date in Cork and could be well suited to any tracks who race over 500m.
(10) Knockboy Curragh – June 2021 who holds an entry in the €80,000 Con & Kirby Memorial Stake at Limerick on Saturday night. A fabulous 2875 race winner at Youghal on debut, this son of Good News has found it tough since but a recent 2890 win in a Kirby Trial Stake at Limerick showed that he still retained that sort of ability. One to watch with Saturday nights performance going to be instrumental on how popular this dog could be.
(11) Mad To Sell – Unraced September 2021 who has an impressive 2922 trial to his name at Galway. A son of superstar sire Droopys Sydney, previous litter comrades include Open Class performers in the UK Work The Head, Confidentiality and Overpaid. This dog looks no different to those and could be destined for a top class career over 500m and possibly further.
(12) Maree Sydney – Without a shout a young pup for the open class scene in the UK. A winner of 2 from 2, this son of Droopys Sydney displayed pace and power when storming clear last time out at Galway in 2899. Comes from a family of Open class winners with half-siblings including Jumierah Bridge, Jumierah Liberty and Savana Poncho.
(13) Mint Hego – September 2021 pup who could prove a valuable graded addition to any kennel. Recorded 2964 in his only trial to date at Tralee with plenty more improvement expected to come.
(14) Romeo Top Cat – Proven open class performer who also holds the added bonus of being British Bred. An 8-time winner at Towcester, including just last Sunday in 2959, Top Cat is as consistent as they come and will win opens for fun for new connections. With the English Derby looming, Top Cat may be one of the last chances to guarantee a runner and he is sure to be attractive on the online market.
(15) Solid Shelby – Ballymac bred November 2021 dog who recorded 2953 in the only trial on his card to date around Tralee. Bred Ballymac Cashout x Ballymac Minton, this lad is a half-brother to super staying prospect Ballymac Whispa and his litter mates Ballymac Tax and Ballymac Maya were previously sold for decent money in a previous auction.
(16) Sunshine Zoe – Finalist in the prestigious Newbridge Unraced Bitches ON1 competition later tonight, all eyes will be on this June 2021 bitch as she hopes to claim the big prize. Zoe made all the impressions of a top-class bitch when winning her first round heat in 2891. Improving runs of 2890 and 2884 behind some capable sorts has followed and regardless of how she performs tonight, this bitch should prove to be popular.
(17) Tory Bellatrix – A two-time race winner over 575y in A1 rated times despite still being a July 2021 puppy. Tory is a genuine wide runner and looks set to take the step up to 6-bends soon enough if vacating to the UK. Additionally, being a full-sister to one of Droopys Sydney fastest sons Jackslittlething she carries immense breeding potential and looks a very solid investment.
(18) Velvet Berlin – May 2021 dog who won on debut at Limerick in a very fast 2877. Immensely well bred, his dam Queen Adele was a high-class sprinter from the famed Tullymurry Act x Skate On litter and she still holds the track record at Henlow. This dog could be perfect for someone after a runner in the soon approaching Pall Mall at Oxford.
(19) Whominowdoll – Huge 82lb staying prospect who is a half brother to the recent Queen Mother Memorial at Sheffield winner Darbys Delight. A winner on debut at Cork in 2899, 525 is much too short for this March 2021 lad and 6 bends will soon draw the full potential out of him.
(20) Wordle – A sister to the previously previewed Tory Bellatrix, Wordle was a debut winner at Galway in 2906 making all from start to finish. This lady looks to have a bit more early than her sister and connections believe she will be capable of further than 525y in time. Again, she is a superbly bred sister to Jackslittlething and carries unlimited brood potential.
