As usual Mark Pierrepont provides expert insight into the sale with a full greyhound by greyhound preview –
MAXIMUM CALIBRE (PESTANA X COCKYORCONFIDENT – SEPTEMBER 2022)
What a start to his career on the track this unraced son of Pestana has made with two scintillating trial victories around Lifford and Shelbourne Park in 1796 and 2893 respectively. A product of the Sean Conway school of excellence this open class prospect with many months of improvement still to come has many selling points but one which stands out above most is the fact he is out of the open and competition class producing dam Cockyorconfident. Counting the superstar track performer Crafty Kokoro among her previous offspring and given the potential shown so far by Calibre there is every reason to believe he will be mixing it with the very best throughout 2024 and beyond.
DEELISH AFFLECK (BALLYMAC BOLGER X AFFLECK MACY – AUGUST 2022)
This unraced son of the fantastic Ballymac Bolger and from the maiden litter of four and six bend open race winner Affleck Macy has just the one trial on his card to date where he recorded 2967 around Cork. So much more to come from this youngster who is fully expected to make high grade at worst and with all the hard work of rearing and schooling complete he will arrive with his new connections fit and ready to get straight into work. Will no doubt be winning plenty as he manoeuvres his way through the graded system.
POPPA PUMPIN (EX BOGGER THE KID – SLIPPY CIAN X BOGGER OPHELIA – MARCH 2022)
Hugely pacey son of Slippy Cian who is a three time race winner from just seven career starts to date. Opened his account with an impressive novice open victory around Waterford and has since followed up with back to back A1 victories around the tough Thurles circuit. Any youngster winning in top grade there is without doubt showcasing extreme promise and there is every reason to believe this talented sort could well add open race success to his cv before too long.
RACKETHALL BOB (BURGESS BUCKS X TAYLOR KATE – MAY 2022)
Showed super promise when winning the only race on his card by 2 ½ lengths around Thurles in 2951. Good all-round pace shown from Bob on that occasion but it was his searing run down the back straight which really caught the eye. His stamina will no doubt improve so there is little doubt he will be competing in the highest grades at whichever track he ends up at.
GLORIOUS TOM (EX – ORCHID ORIGIN – DROOPYS SYDNEY X CICERO – DECEMBER 2021)
Lightly raced son of the superstar stud dog Droopys Sydney who has had one or two bad luck stories since a storming 2837 victory around Shelbourne Park back in October in what was only the second competitive start of his life. That kind of run marks him out as a very much above average sort and with just a handful of runs since this could very well be a greyhound who really backs up that promise shown early in his career as we head into 2024.
THATS PROMISING (PESTANA X LEMON KERRIE – JUNE 2022)
Just the sole race on the card of this pup by Pestana and from the maiden litter of Lemon Kerrie a bitch who competed in open class in the UK over four , six and eight bends. Thats Promising made all to win on debut last week at Kilkenny in 2914 by four lengths but given her breeding it would come as no surprise if a little more stamina came into being as she naturally matures both for age and experience.
STORMY BUCKS (BURGESS BUCKS X TOREMORE EMILY – APRIL 2022)
This strapping 80lb son of Burgess Bucks made no mistake at all on just the second start of his career when routing the opposition by fully 9 ½ lengths at Tralee last week in a top class 1756. Will have no trouble winning races over further especially with a little more age and fitness on his side. With his trapping ability and super early pace he’ll no doubt appeal greatly to those who ‘like their money in front’.
EPIC BELLA (BROADSTRAND BONO X GOOD DIVA – JULY 2022)
Super unraced open class bitch pup prospect from a breeding and rearing establishment which consistently produces the goods. When you purchase a pup from the Kennedy outfit you can rest assured they have been given every opportunity throughout their formative months to go on and become the champions which their bloodlines suggest they can do. Dam Good Diva counts many open and competition class performers amongst her siblings including half sister Billys Diva who of course emerged victorious in the English Oaks of 2021. This is Good Diva’s maiden litter but all the signs during the rearing and schooling stages to date have been that they are an above average group with Bella in particular showcasing plenty of ability.
MILLROAD BOWIE – (CABRA FIRMINO X GOLDMINE LILY – JULY 2022)
Real promise being shown from this unraced son of Goldmine Lily in qualifying trials including a 2943 effort around Limerick when winning a 2 dog trial recently by three lengths. Dam Lily was a finalist in the Pat Dunne Unraced Stake Final back in 2019 and though her first litter to Magical Bale have been winning plenty the word is that this second litter to Cabra Firmino look and entirely faster group altogether. Destined for a career in the higher grades at worst but with so much improvement to come it’s difficult to say quite how far Bowie could go.
KABEZABOLO (EX – SKIRK BRUISER – BALLYMAC CASHOUT X SKIRK GRACE – APRIL 2022)
This unraced son of Ballymac Cashout really caught the eye in the first official trial of his life around Thurles when beating off his sole rival by fully ten lengths in 1829. A super run from one so young and another pup who should be competing at a high level and will arrive with his new connections fit and ready to get to work with all the rearing and schooling complete.
BANGOVERTHEBAR (BRETT LEE X BALLYMAC PETSY – OCTOBER 2022)
Raw unraced youngster from the famed Ballymac academy who is very much ‘bred in the purple’ being a son of Ballymac Petsy the dam of track superstars Ballymac Finn and Maries Wedding. Super unrecorded run around Tralee just last week of 1787 and no doubt at all that this youngster will be winning plenty of races in at least top grade and being so young there really is no guessing quite how far he could progress. Reared and schooled to perfection by one of the leading teams around.
MORESTRAWBERRIES (BRETT LEE X BALLYMAC PETSY – OCTOBER 2022)
Full unraced sister to Bangoverthebar detailed above and although Morestrawberries is fully expected to win races on the track it is without doubt her blood lines and future breeding prospects which will appeal to many. A half sister to the likes of Ballymac Finn and Maries Wedding and of course a daughter of Brett Lee there isn’t too much not to like and there is sure to be fierce bidding from those intelligent enough to recognise a superb breeding prospect of the future when they see one.
BALLYMAC ADDIE (EXPLOSIVE BOY X ASHWOOD ADELPHA – SEPTEMBER 2022)
Unraced daughter of Explosive Boy who has been pleasing the Ballymac team greatly in recent times with her searing early pace evident for some time. Has been doing everything right at home and is fully expected to win plenty on the track for her lucky new owners. Reared and schooled as always from the Ballymac team with no expense spared.
BALLYMAC BREE (BALLYMAC KINGDOM X STRAWBERRY AMY – SEPTEMBER 2022)
Just one trial on the card of this September 2022 daughter of Ballymac Kingdom and Strawberry Amy where she showcased top class prospects with a three length trial win around Tralee in 2967. Those who know Tralee trial form will know this is a super starting point for one so young and there can be no doubt that Bree is destined for a career in the top grades at worst and with much improvement to come who knows how high the ceiling is.
ROMEO HOTSHOT (MAGIC SPRITE X BUCKOS LASS – JANUARY 2021)
British Bred performer of the highest level who emerged victorious in the Romford Puppy Cup Final of 2022. Reached 3 years of age at the turn of this year but no doubt has a big year ahead and very much showcased he remains in top class form with a 3510 open race victory over Romford’s 575m trip only last week. Will win opens over a variety of trips and will be a big player in the many British events pencilled into the calendar.
ROMEO CYPHER (DROOPYS SYDNEY X FABULOUS SKYLAR – FEBRUARY 2022)
Not beaten far into third place in the final of last years Romford Puppy Cup behind litter brother Romeo Crusade. Subsequently landed both heat and final of a Harlow Maiden competition in good style. Super early paced British Bred performer capable of winning at good class over both sprint and shorter four bend distances. Will appeal greatly to anybody looking at targeting the BGBF calendar this coming year.
ROMEO FIREBRAND (DROOPYS SYDNEY X FABULOUS SKYLAR – FEBRUARY 2022)
Full brother to Cyper detailed above and another who will be well capable at both full open and particularly on the British Bred scene this year. Huge early and middle gears and already a three time race winner around Romford including a couple of super runs of 2378 and 2379. Will prove a very welcome addition to which ever kennel is lucky enough to land him as he without doubt has a big year ahead.
FABULOUS TEMPO (NEWINN TAYLOR X FABULOUS MILA – MAY 2022)
Just two races on the card of this young British Bred lady and got off the mark at just the second time of asking with a new year’s eve victory around Towcester in 3008. Dam Mila is a well proven producer of class counting the likes of Romeo Hanzo Kodi and Turbo amongst members of her maiden litter to Romeo Recruit. Still very much falls into the ‘could be anything’ category and highly likely that she’ll be adding more success to her cv in the coming weeks and months. Beyond her racing career Tempo has every chance of making it in the breeding paddocks in her own right.
ROMEO MILITAIRE (BALLYMAC CASHOUT X FABULOUS AMALFI – AUGUST 2022)
Just the two races on the card of this raw British Bred youngster at got his career up and running at the very first time of asking with a super 1612 debut winning effort around Towcester. Will no doubt stay further with age and a very interesting proposition given he must surely have mountains of improvement to come.
GLENROCK JET (CUSHIE JET X NATIVE TREASURE – AUGUST 2022)
Improved in each of his three qualifying trials to date around Cork culminating in a superb effort of 2874 in the last of those early in December. That run came pre meeting and it’s worth noting that the fastest race winner that evening came in A2 with a winning time of 2900. It was some effort from an unraced youngster with plenty left to come and he’s fully expected to be competing and holding his own in good company during the year ahead.
FIRE HEIGHT PELE (TOP HONCHO X REDZER RUBY – APRIL 2022)
Open and competition class puppy prospect who posted 2906 at Tralee when beating off the sole rival in his only trial to date by fully six lengths. Dam Ruby is well proven being responsible for the likes of Troy Suzieeq (2022 Regency Champion) and Savana Ruinart (2022 Golden Collar , Select Stayers and Winter Festival Winner) amongst many other top class performers. Can only improve and looks destined for a career in the top echelons of the sport and will very likely not come into his own until fully matured and stepped up in trip.
TWO PINTS MARY (BALLYMAC BEST X STOP THAT MOLLY – JANUARY 2022)
Young lady who has very much looked in need of the experience in four career races to date. Should prove to be a solid grader for new connections over any four bend trip in the UK. Will pay her way on the graded scene.
INSIDE THE LINES (PESTANA X LILLY LULA – APRIL 2022)
Just two races on the card of this stunning looking brindle and white youngster and got off the mark at just the second time of asking with an 1852 sprint win around Drumbo Park just last week. Plenty to come and sure to prove a useful addition to any graded kennel in the UK where his early pace should serve him well.
ALIEN WILDFIRE (BROADSTRAND BONO X IGNITE – NOVEMBER 2021)
November 2021 dog who posted a smart 28.62 in defeat last time out at Shelbourne Park. He looks the sort to relish further than the 525 yard distance and will be well suited to a wide seed. Could be another to compete n the UKs open race scene.
