Regular readers will be aware of my recent announcement of a significant upgrade to the Greyhound Star website.
That has now commenced with the transfer of the site to a new host. Despite a couple of minor blips, this has gone incredibly smoothly.
There will be minimal noticeable differences in the first instance, barring a quicker response time, with the site now having access to greater internet bandwidth.
The man behind the revamp is well known greyhound owner and front end software engineer, David ‘Blue Tick’ Mitchell.
It was David of course who helped so many tracks develop their websites to broadcast their trial sessions. In the coming weeks and months, I will be drawing on David’s expertise, full conversant that the Star project is very much at the lower end of his skill level.
It will take a while to make visible changes to the site. One of the next projects will be the return of the App, which was suspended on July 1. It would be my hope that we can add an Android version to the OS original.
Looking further ahead, I am relying on David for a whole host of new features and inovations.
It remains my ambition to progress and develop the site to ensure its long term survival, long beyond the day when this particular scribbling ex-kennel lad is put out to pasture.
