I am delighted to announce today that ownership of Greyhound Star has been taken over by a consortium led by Mike Davis. Mike is a leading owner and is focussed on the growth and sustainability of the sport.
This means that the Greyhound Star will receive significant investment to enhance the independent reporting of the sport of greyhound racing and promote the welfare and rehoming of greyhounds.
I will continue to be part of the editorial team with content frequency increasing in the coming weeks and more diverse topics being covered going forwards.
Further recruitment will take place imminently to appoint content creators for both racing and welfare/rehoming areas.
Building on the enhancement to the Greyhound Star, wide ranging future plans are also being developed to include the complete overhaul of promotion and marketing of greyhounds and greyhound racing. This involves implementation of a strategy over the next 12 months to develop commercial opportunities, partnerships, broadcasting and online developments.
I am proud to have developed and progressed the Greyhound Star since I first joined the newspaper in 1997 and I am excited to be part of the next stage of the journey which I believe will be a game changer for our industry.
