Entries close at midday tomorrow for the Alarming Alan Trophy Race, a £1,000 one-off open over 712 metres on Sunday’s Empress Stakes undercard at Towcester.
The event is sponsored by well known owner and retired greyhound fund raiser Jayne Conway in honour of her former racer Alarming Alan. During a long and distinguished career the January ’09 whelp raced at Oxford, Poole and Swindon contesting 94 races over a wide variety of distances and was occasionally spotted on the open scene. After retirement, he reguarly accompanied Jayne in her various charity commitments.
She said: “Alan helped me raise thousands of pounds for the retiring greyhounds at Towcester and was a regular visitor for some time. He was loved by everyone who met him, from tiny tots to the elderly. This race is my way of celebrating his life and remembering him as the joy he was to watch and the privilege he was to own.”
