Statement from MWD Partnership regards sale of Gougane Jet –
Gougane Jet or “Reggie” as we call him, has been a great servant since arriving at Imperial Kennels in May 2022. He ran 42 times for us and won 29 races including three Category 2 competitions and also reached the final of two category 1’s. He has the track record at Perry Barr and won sprinter of the year at the GBGB awards last year – his race record speaks for itself.
He really is a star performer and is one of the best sprinters we have ever had. A fantastic will to win matched with enormous early pace, he will be very hard to replace.
I understand he is going to be racing in Ireland and hope he gives the new owners lots of good times as there is still plenty of racing left in him. The sale is solely down to the owners who say ‘they had an offer they couldn’t refuse’ so we wish Reggie well in the next part of his racing career and then onto a very happy retirement he obviously deserves.
Everyone at the kennel will miss his great personality and he will always be remembered in our hall of fame. Greyhounds like him don’t come along very often and Reggie certainly has that star quality.
