It has been a month since our last update highlighting some of the oldest and most enduring hounds from the national racing strength – with all data kindly supplied by greyhoundstats.co.uk.
The oldest quartet on the table, all 2014 whelps, have all been retired, headed by the May ’14 whelp Glengiblin Percy who signed off on a double century of races.
Now heading the table is the comparatively sprightly Riveting who is due to contest an A9 at Perry Barr tomorrow. Interestingly, there are two pairs of littermates in the top 20.
One final point – despite there being in the region of 7,500 currently in training, there are only 14 six-year-olds.
When it comes to sheer volume of races, we already suspected that Baker Boy – also a Perry Barr regular – had probably been to traps for the last time. He had finished last in early August and hadn’t race since. Final score – 237.
In his absence, Adriknock Any has gone to the top of the table with a career tally of 219 UK races, all at Nottingham including four so far in September.
The fact that there are only two double centurions from the entire national racing strength perhaps goes to highlight the difficulty in reaching that landmark.
