18:19 – 480M
A wide open-looking race to kick things off but I would expect LENSON WHELAN to take the beating in a clean run race. He’s the eldest runner in the race and would be better suited drawn closer to the rails than 3 but he’s got pace at both ends of the race.
TASTY TREAT on his inside might just move out if anything and he’s typically a fast starting, early-paced runner so while there’s a chance they will come together on the run up, he might just trap out and get gone. He doesn’t quite see out this trip as well as the 3 and has been shown to best effect in solo trials.
VIXONS LAD in 1 is hit and miss from the lids but might just have a nice draw and if able to get around in front could land a messy race.
ANTIGUA JET in 4 is likely to move in early and is making his British debut so will come on for this run.
The outside traps of HEADFORD DIVA & MARKET CALL are each capable with one of their better starts but are vulnerable if any of the inside trio manage to get loose.
Selections – VIXONS LAD (1), TASTY TREAT (2), LENSON WHELAN (3), HEADFORD DIVA (5)
18:36 – 630M
DESPERADO DAN has a nice draw as the only railer in here so that gives him a favourites chance. Adding to that, he’s the most consistent runner and the quickest runner means I shouldn’t need to say much more.
JAXX PURPLE in 2 was only beaten a head by him on their penultimate meeting but will move off from this draw which is likely to cause plenty of drama early on. 5 and 6 both won in S1’s last time out and might just be drawn far enough out to avoid early traffic.
Selection – DESPERADO DAN (1)
18:51 – 416M
This distance isn’t often used, in fact I’m not sure they’ve raced over 416M since April 2019 so the main obstacle from that is being able to use literal time comparisons.
HAVE A BRANDY in 1 is a Romford regular but just hasn’t been getting a clear run or a lead at the bend so the make-up of this race might not suit but a new track may spark some fire in him again as he’s a capable dog.
MR ROO in 2 is lightly raced but an ideal candidate for this type of race. He’s been leading to the last in A1’s over 480 here so he’s got pace for sure but CASH POINT in 3 traps well and also wants the rails, so how he and 2 fare early on will be critical.
DROOPYS PREMIER in 4 has bundles of all-round pace but is drawn inside a typically fast starting top grade sprinter in KELSEYS PHOENIX and he might be one for the future. The latter will like this trip but I can only see him moving in around the first couple of bends which brings MUSIC AT REDROSE into the equation as the sole wide seed. He’s probably not the fastest runner in here but could take advantage of the likely trouble on the inside.
A race such as this with no standout contender for me lends itself well to the pools-based betting of the Win 8 as I’d be looking for total cover.
Selections – HAVE A BRANDY (1), MR ROO (2), CASH POINT (3), DROOPYS PREMIER (4), KELSEYS PHOENIX (5), MUSIC AT REDROSE (6)
19:09 – 684M
Another race over a lesser used distance but there’s a good amount of 630 form to go by here.
UNLIKELY ROGUE in 6 has a nice draw and can show more early zip than he has been doing. That would give him a good chance as he does stay this far but I’m really excited to see WESTMEAD CHANEL over this trip and she arrives here in fast improving form. The draw means she’ll need to get by trap 1 fairly early on but if she managed a clear run, I think she’ll hack up.
Selections – WESTMEAD CHANEL (2), UNLIKELY ROGUE (6)
19:26 – 264M
The first sprint of the night now and the very exciting BURNPARK DUMBO makes his British debut from the black jacket. His most recent trial was a very quick 15.23 and a repeat of that will see him land this.
The nature of sprints mean that it doesn’t always go to plan from the traps so I’d want some cover and AGHABURREN JOY is all about early pace and should come on for his recent spin where he clocked at 15.38.
Selections – BURNPARK DUMBO (4), AGHABURREN JOY (5)
19:41 – 480M
Puppy final now and it looks SIGNET ACE’S race to lose. He was the fastest heat winner off the back of the fastest sectional so he’s going to be hard to oppose.
DROOPYS DELIGHT didn’t win his heat but might be capable of better than he showed there although HOLDEM LAUREN, his victor, has been ultra-consistent of late.
Selection – SIGNET ACE (2)
19:58 – 684M
The second race over 684 and with respect this looks much better. SOUTHFIELD CODE in 6 has the fastest 630M time of the field and he stays at least this far.
DROOPYS CATCH in 4 has been in good form over the shorter 6 bend trip here and will appreciate the step up too.
SHELDAN could be a force if able to dictate matters and while ANTIGUA BULLET has had just the one start and looks more like one for the future, he ran very well in his first trial over the 630M trip.
Selections – DROOPYS CATCH (4), SOUTHFIELD CODE (6)
20:12 – 264M
Sprint final here and recent greyhound of the month SHREWD CALL overcame a slow start to win well last week so clearly has a favourites chance.
That said both PULL THE TRIGGER & COOLAVANNY DYLAN are capable of a mild upset based on their close encounter last time out.
Selections – PULL THE TRIGGER (1), SHREWD CALL (2), COOLAVANNY DYLAN (3)
