Elwick Glory (1-7f) put down a marker for the upcoming Great North Run at Newcastle when she landed an open over the course and distance in good style on Saturday.
The James Brown-owned bitch dominated the race from start to finish where she was two and threequarter lengths clear of runner-up Shellam Maeby in 40.90.
Trainer Colin Redden has had Elwick Glory at the top of her game for some weeks now and he purposely swerved the Yorkshire St leger at Doncaster to concentrate on Newcastle’s staying feature and she must play a big part in that when it starts on October 10.
