Blue Tick George came within 9 spots of Kilmore Lemon’s 277m track record on his way to an impressive trap-to-line win in the first semi final of the George Ing St. Leger at Yarmouth on Monday night.
The Jim Daly trained blue ran the bend smoothly from his middle draw and was never troubled when clocking 40.23 (+15).
Fastest first round winner Bo Shine Bullet finished home alone in the first semi final but was 12 spots slower than her flying heat win – the discrepancy being almost totally due to the different track conditions (+45/+15). She was actually half a length quicker at the sectional in the second run.
The third semi was marred by trouble which saw Blue Tick Delia KO’d. It went to Burgess Puma – the third leg of an 86-1 treble for Jason Bloomfield – with Alaskan Dawn looking particularly hard done by in third spot.
