Towcester have put back the meeting due to feature the final of the Genco Group Juvenile Classic from the afternoon to the evening of Sunday July 28 – but it comes with a bonus.
Track spokesman Billy Brennan said: “The change has really come by accident. I was talking to Jack Russell from Genco about places in the executive box and he mentioned that he wouldn’t be able to get here.
“He is sponsoring a kid’s football match on the same afternoon and is committed to attending.
“I asked whether he could make it to an evening meeting, if we could arrange it, and I said he could. As far as Kevin (Boothby) was concerned, it wasn’t a problem. Richard Brankley at SIS was also amenable and so the change was agreed.
“Jack was so delighted that he has offered to put £500 into each of the supporting opens on the day. They will also carry £500 winner’s prizes with £100 for others.
“We have six scheduled and will be prepared to duplicate them, depending on the quality of entry. Certainly, it would be good to duplicate the marathon if there were a dozen entered.”
The Sunday evening card has a 5.39pm first race with opens scheduled over 270m, 500m (standard and maiden), 712m (standard and maiden) and 942m.
Brennan continued: “It will be a busy weekend with finals at Oxford and Hove but our races won’t close until after Hove which will give connections a different option.”
