GBGB launches new Welfare Hotline
The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) has launched a new Welfare Hotline for anyone concerned about the welfare of registered racing greyhounds to report information anonymously. The aim of the Hotline is to further uphold the welfare of licensed greyhounds and the integrity of the sport.
Callers to the hotline can report any information about any possible wrongdoing in strictest confidence via a mailbox which can be reached on 020 7822 0917. The mailbox is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Callers are asked to provide as much detail as possible but they are not required to offer any information which may reveal their identity should they not wish it to be known.
All information provided through the Hotline will be collated by an Investigator and passed onto the GBGB’s Welfare and Integrity Team who will take the appropriate action.
Paul Illingworth, GBGB Senior Stipendiary Steward, said:
“We are pleased to have the new Welfare Hotline up and running. It is another positive measure to protect the welfare of registered greyhounds and ensure that no breach of the Rules of Racing goes unnoticed.
“Whilst we already investigate any information that is given to us, this confidential process will mean that no one should feel unable to come forward and speak up on any matter which affects the welfare of registered greyhounds or which damages the integrity of our sport.”
