GBGB has welcomed a new member to their field force this week with Annie Poole joining the team as Stipendiary Steward for the South East region.
Annie will be covering Central Park, Crayford and Brighton and Hove stadia and will be working with over 70 trainers across the region.
Many within the sport will know Annie from her previous role as a Welfare Coordinator at GBGB, at which time she also organised the Greyhound of the Year Awards. Since then, she has worked at the Rugby Football Union as a Team Operations Manager and at the Greyhound Trust as an Operations and Development Manager.
As a Stipendiary Steward, Annie will work with trainers to ensure that their canine athletes receive the highest level of care both at and away from the track. She takes over the role from Hayley Huntley, who is now the General Manager at Central Park.
Commenting on her appointment, Annie said:
“I have seen the steps GBGB has taken with the introduction of the Greyhound Commitment and it is hugely exciting to be supporting this all-important welfare and integrity work.
“I have been involved with the sport all my life. I regularly visited Walthamstow growing up as my father was a bookmaker there and my love of greyhounds has only grown with time. I have worked in various roles in sport since and have enjoyed owning both racing and retired greyhounds.
“Over the coming weeks, I will be starting visiting all my trainers and very much look forward to working with them and their greyhounds.”
Welcoming Annie, Paul Illingworth, GBGB Senior Stipendiary Steward, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Annie back to the GBGB team. I know she is looking forward to playing her part in helping maintain the high standards we expect for our racers both on and off the track.”
