GBGB has welcomed a new member to their field force this week with Carol Chown-Smith joining the team as Stipendiary Steward for East Anglia.

Carol has spent twenty years working within the sport and has been a general manager at both Perry Barr and Romford. In her new role, she will be covering Romford, Harlow and Yarmouth stadia and will be working with over 80 trainers in the area.

Welcoming her to the role, GBGB Stipendiary Steward, Paul Illingworth, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Carol to the team. In her previous roles she has always championed greyhound welfare and will be an excellent addition to the GBGB field force.”

Carol added: “I am very much looking forward to getting back into the industry and working with our wonderful athletes once again. My first introduction to the sport was applying for a part-time position at Perry Barr; it did not take me long to catch the racing bug and I worked my way up at the track before heading to Romford in 2010.

“With the launch of the welfare strategy next year, this is an exciting time to join GBGB and I look forward to playing a role in upholding the sport’s high welfare and integrity standards.”
