The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Stipendiary Stewards.
Following an extensive recruitment process, Carly Philpott will now take over London and the South East region whilst Peter Broadbridge will have responsibility for trainers and stadia in the South West.
Carly, who steered Ballymac Kewell to the final of the English Greyhound Derby in 2004, has spent her whole working life in the sport. Commenting on her appointment, Carly said:
“I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity to be part of GBGB. I’ve been in the sport for many years and I’m sure my experience will be of benefit to this role.
“As a Stipendiary Steward, I am hoping to assist trainers where needed in order to maintain the high standards of welfare and ensure compliance with the Rules of Racing. I will continue to promote my passion for racing and rehoming, as I’ve always done.”
Peter has over 30 years’ experience in the sport including most recently at Crayford Stadium where he was General Manager between 2018 and April 2023. He said:
“I’ve been involved in the sport a long time, as an owner with Dink and then Julie Luckhurst and as an enthusiastic racegoer. I’m really pleased to be joining the GBGB team and look forward to starting work with trainers and tracks in the South West.”
Senior Stipendiary Steward Duncan Gibson added: “It’s a pleasure to welcome both Carly and Peter to the GBGB team. Having been in the sport for many years, they bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise. I am confident they will flourish in their new roles and be an asset to both GBGB and the industry as a whole.”
