Peter Harnden will continue as the GBGB Trainers’ Practitioner Director on the GBGB Board for a further three years.
Peter was due to stand again for re-election, however, with no one putting themselves toward to oppose his position this means he will now go forward for a further term with agreement from the GBGB Board at this month’s board meeting.
Commenting on continuing in the role, Peter said:
“I am pleased to continue in the position of Trainers’ Director for another three years. I’m proud to represent the voice of trainers on the GBGB Board and feel this is especially important at a time when new initiatives are being developed to ensure that our views are considered and reflected in any decision making. Going forward, I would ideally like to mentor someone during my new term with the aim of handing over the reins in three years’ time, subject to their election. I believe that our sport is making huge strides in the right direction and I look forward to continuing to represent trainers for another term.”
GBGB Managing Director Mark Bird said:
“I am delighted to see Peter continue as a Board Director representing our trainers. One of Peter’s greatest achievements in the role so far has been to help improve communication between GBGB and trainers and I am certain that this will only develop further over his next term. The next three years will likely see a great deal of change with the obvious challenge and opportunity for trainers in our sport but Peter genuinely appreciates and supports the direction that we at GBGB are taking to develop and promote greyhound racing in the UK.”
