The Greyhound Board of Great Britain is pleased to announce that the 2016 BAGS Kennelhand of the Year is Angela Harrison of Jimmy Wright’s Alnwick kennels.
A panel comprised of broadcaster Tanya Stevenson, head of RGT Croftview Cheryl Miller and the GBGB’s Welfare and Integrity Manager Duncan Gibson were joined by Scott Harvey from sponsors BAGS to deliberate over the nominations and Angela emerged as the clear winner and will receive the £500 prize and an award and the Greyhound of the Year Wards on January 29.
Angela was proposed by owner Raymond Carr, who said; “Angela works seven days a week, often putting in over 15 hours a day. Recently, there was a week where she was at Sheffield on the Tuesday, Belle Vue on the Wednesday and Hove on the Thursday. She keeps all the owners informed about their dogs and is dedicated to the puppies she brings up from whelping. She would be a thoroughly deserving recipient of this award. “
There were two runners up, each of whom will receive a prize of £200. Megan Reynolds is a kennelhand to her father Michael Reynolds and is currently studying for a master’s degree in veterinary physiotherapy, specialising in greyhounds. Greg Hill is kennelhand to Kim Billingham and has vast experience, having previously worked for John Basset and Geoff DeMulder. Gregg travels extensively with Open races and also to seek out specialist veterinary care around the country.
