The Greyhound Board of Great Britain welcomes today’s announcement by DEFRA that it has concluded its review of the 2010 Welfare of Racing Greyhound Regulations and found them to be effective in achieving their original objectives.

The GBGB is looking forward to continue working with DEFRA and delivering on the commitments given, including achieving UKAS accreditation for its trainers licensing process and the publication of injury, euthanasia and retirement data.

GBGB chief executive Barry Faulkner said; “We have spent the last two years working with DEFRA in the course of its review of the regulations and we are pleased with what can only be described as a positive outcome. We believe that UKAS accreditation of our kennel licensing procedures will enhance greyhound welfare while the publication of data will enable us to quantify progress made.”
