The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) has today confirmed the disqualification of the 2024 Ladbrokes Winter Derby winner, CHURCHFIELD SYD, after a positive sample.
The 480m flat competition final took place on Saturday 17th February at Monmore Green Greyhound Stadium. A sample was collected on the evening of the event, as per GBGB’s anti-doping policy, and was later confirmed positive by specialist testing facility LGC.
Confirming the news, a spokesperson for GBGB said:
“Following the positive sample of CHURCHFIELD SYD on Saturday 17th February, as per Rule 173(ii), we can confirm that the greyhound has been disqualified from the 2024 Ladbrokes Winter Derby. Prize money and competition points are therefore forfeited and will automatically transfer to the runner-up of the competition, KING CAPALDI.
“We maintain a strict anti-doping policy and will be following all the appropriate disciplinary processes. An investigation is ongoing and the owner, trainer and stadium in question have all been notified.”
