It’s game on! After weeks of not getting a sniff of a winner, Steve Anderson gave the new lucky pants a first outing on Thursday – and wham! £50 profit. Some might call it a coincidence. . . but who are we to say? He seems to like them anyway. That new gym membership seems to be paying off too.
Of course he still didn’t finish as the top tipster. Nobody ever described them as ‘miracle pants’. That honour went to Jimmy Wright with a nice double and a £108.75 profit. As for Jimmy Fenwick, we can only assume that it was laundry day. (-£100).
Meanwhile at Perry Barr, Paul Gebhard bombed (-£100). Hannah Prince was once again the female in form with an £8.33 profit. But Phil joined the Short list of losers (-£100). Sooner or later they are gonna have to bring in the mammy!
NOTTINGHAM
Sad to say no sign of Morris Harnden today. He is practising his Shepherds Hey! (Apparently the Normanton posse are planning something special for Derby Final night.) In case you’ve forgotten, last Friday the Nottingham trio couldn’t have picked the fleas off a dead cat (-£300).

Ace Of Kindness (R3 T2) Colin Wilton’s homebred dog reaches veteran status in just a couple of months time but is still more than capable of winning at this level of A4. For a front runner who went to the line first time a good 2-3 lengths slower than he’s capable of last time out , he still went on to run a very game second despite not gaining the lead that he craves. He’d gone firmly in the notebook as a somewhat unlucky loser and connections eyes must have lit up when they saw that he’d been dropped in grade this week. It is a good A4 , more of an A3.5 in reality but I will take my chances that he finds one of his better breaks and if doing so he can make every post a winning one £75 win.
Salacres Lucky – (R8 T1) This is a race that could well get messy upfront and I am therefore taking a chance on our ‘Lucky’. A bitch we purchased as a very young pup and then reared over here as with a good few of our runners. She is what she is , a solid mid grader who stays well and wins in her turn. That turn came last time out in A6 company and though there are runners in tonight’s race on the upgrade to A5 who are too fast for her if they went round in solo’s , this isn’t a solo and the race could just be made for her to get there when it matters. Don’t go to crazy , we’re relying on things happening in the race for her to get involved , however on what I’ve seen that’s far from inconceivable and at what should be fair odds I’m prepared to take a chance £25 win
Terry Urquhart
Roo Went Too (R8 T6) Can come through late and strong on the run-in from the from the back of the handicap £50 win
Young Henry (R9 T2) better than he’s shown in competitive action so far. Needs to clear red by the turn but big runner if doing so. Support in the market would be a positive sign £50 win

Newinn Jackie – (R1 T5) A good winner last time out in this grade of A3 and can go in again for Terry Munslow. Lynn Cook’s Hopalong Eleni looks set to lead round on the inside but Jackie can be ominously close to her with the writing on the wall as they head down the back straight. £50 win
Loher Honey (R7 T5) Came back from lockdown absolutely flying but has totally lost her way in the last few weeks. Receives a downgrade to A2 tonight though and I’m hopeful that can work the oracle and see Jill Llewellin’s bitch back on the winners podium £50 win
ROMFORD
Only one human calculator to follow at Romford. Dustin Hoffman played him in the film. (Tom Cruise played the part of Ben Keith.) They’ve even named a dog after him (R4 T5).

New Inn Cracker (R7 T3) She has been running really well in some good races the last 3 times at Romford, she won 3 runs back over C&D and has run competitively the last twice and this race looks a fair bit easier than those so this looks a fair opportunity to get her head back in front, only concern would be 4 turning left but if she rides that bump she will clear inside runners and once in front she won’t be caught. £100 win

Newinn Liz (R3 T5) Should improve on the clock for last weeks debut over six bends. Looks be given a fair chance to do so. £100 win

We have nine runners tonight – it should have been ten but Antigua Breeze had some swelling on a toe joint. In all honesty, the kennel hasn’t been in great form, but there has been a lot going on and I would expect things to start to settle down.
Looking at tonight’s runners we have a lot of half chances, which means we may get a couple of winners that I can’t really say that I fancy.
Tiffield Blueboy (R1) is an example. I think he is good enough to win it, but not very lucky in draws. If he was in red, I would fancy him. I know Playbook (R2) is good enough to win her race. But so far she has also looked like a trap one specialist. I think the same of Sober Express (R3) – who needs to be on the rail. I think. He certainly got no run last week. Can he win from four? Definitely but I am not tipping him. Aero Madrid (R4) has winning form at Romford, but struggles a bit in this level of company. We’ve followed Jesses Sister (R5) over a cliff so far because she keeps failing to reach the bend. She is fastest enough, without a doubt, but I could not tip her. Out Lucky Lee (R6) is a Puppy Cup dog. He trialled well enough, and can do a 24.20. But is very inexperienced and even then that might not be good enough. Ava Storm (R8) is coming back from injury and season and not really back to her best. Which leaves:
Ivy Hill Skyhigh (R11 T2) He trialled very well over the 575 and is a class act. But it is the best race of the night and may be value each way £10 each way
I know that Aayamza Royale (R12 T3) is a fairly obvious choice in the last. I realise that a lot of people have been waiting for her to go 750, but she stands out as an obvious NAP. £80 win
