Thursday night was a cracker at both track.

At NEWCASTLE, Jimmy Wright tipped up a 7-4 winner to £40, saw a £20 fancy get chinned as all headed for the 11th race. Jimmy W went £40 on Fenwick’s Cloverhill King. The trainer himself was more confident with a £100 all-in. King duly did the business to give Jimmy Wright a £120 profit. But Jimmy Fenwick picked up a £175 profit

There is a PS to this story. The fact that Cloverhill King got home by just a short head from kennelmate Blue Sky Lucy. You might want to check those lucky pants Jimmy.

Meanwhile at PERRY BARR, Hannah Prince kicked off with £25 on Easy Article (2-1 won). In the eighth, both Hannah (£25) and Paul Gebhard (£30) went for Cibulkova (won 13-8). Paul then went £30 on his own dog, Drahbeg Dart (won 5-1).

The pair were also both on for £10 trebles. Hannah’s Noels Cookie (£40 @ 5-4) finished third. Paul’s Sporting Pacino (£30 @ 5-2) finished second.

Net result- Hannah Prince £40.63 profit. Paul Gebhard £158.75 profit.

Of course there were two other tipsters taking part on the night. We won’t mention them by name. They know who they are. What is that stuff that weighs down a ship?

Oh yeah, ballast!

NOTTINGHAM

He’s back. Just when you thought he had taken his bells home!

Seattle Sam (R1 T1) A dog desperate for the red box, aided with a dog likely to give him room on his outside. £20 win
Newinn Liz (R3 T6) Looks like connections have opted to try 575m instead of going in the Gold Cup where she finished a good 2nd in a trial stake. £50 win
Bang On Annie (R9 T4) Back to HQ after a few away days and a nice win in the bitches final at Hove. Trap three is in good form but hopefully we get a smash break from Annie.  £30 win

We have five runners tonight but I will only be going for two for a variety of reason. Have A Brandy (R4) is capable of winning in this company but it is a ‘3-1 the field’ race in my opinion and he seems to have lost the winning habit.
I rate Playbook (R9) but have to be honest, she has disappointed me in her last couple of runs. She certainly has her trap tonight but I’ll just watch her run and hope we see the real Playbook.
I don’t have any doubts that Antigua Fire (R11) will stay the 750 and I expect him to win tonight, but at 1-3, he wouldn’t be carrying any of my money.
That leaves Passing Stranger (R12 T6) going over the 925. I am pretty confident that he will get the trip, the most important thing is that he can get clear. He is a much better dog on the bunny. £40 win
My other selection is Sober Express (R5 T1). He has been running well at Towcester, has run okay over the 400 at Romford but this really is his trip. He is quite unexposed in a decent race and should be at least 5-1 so I think there will be some value in going each way. £30 each way (This is against the rules, but so is arriving late for kenneling-Ed)
